Health Harmony Balance - HHB

Program Structure - HHB

 This is a 10-day residential program covering: 

  • the Foundation Yoga Course (2 hours/day)
  • Yoga Sutra Study (2 hours/day)
  • an introduction to Vedic Chanting (1 hour/day)

 The program would require the presence of the participant in Chennai for 10 days 

Foundation Yoga - HHB

 The Foundation Yoga Course comprises the following modules:

  • Stretch and Relaxation 
  • Strength and Load Bearing 
  • Suryanamaskaram (with mantras) 
  • Pranayama
  • Dhyana

Through these components, a course of asana, pranayama and dhyana is taught where the central aspects of T. Krishnamacharya’s and T.K.V. Desikachar’s teachings are put into practice.  

Yoga Sutra - HHB

 The study of the Yoga Sutra will cover an overview of

  • Chapter 1, Samadhi Pada which discusses the philosophy of Yoga 
  • Chapter 2, Sadhana Pada which discusses the practice of Yoga

This will be studied in the light of important sutras in each chapter and done together with the chanting of the Yoga Sutra. 

Vedic Chanting - HHB

  The introduction to Vedic Chanting comprises:

  • an overview of the Vedas and their place in Indian tradition
  • the parallels between the benefits derived from Yoga and Vedic Chanting
  • the rationale for the use of Vedic Chanting as a meditative tool
  • chanting of simple passages from the Vedas together with their meaning

Cost - HHB

The cost for the 10-day program is USD 1800 per person (minimum group of four participants). This would include 

  • five hours of classes a day
  • accommodation in a twin sharing room
  • all meals
  • laundry
  • airport pick up and drop

Optional: an exposure to aspects of Indian culture – traditional music and dance performances, temple visits, talks on the Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, world heritage treasures of South India, and Ayurveda, to name some important areas of interest to visitors.

Additional days (beyond the 10-day program) could be customized to meet the needs of the individual/group according to their area of interest.

Yoga Teacher Training - YTT

Program Structure - YTT

This is a 300-hour teacher training program covering:  

  • the Foundation Yoga Course (2 hours/day)
  • Yoga Sutra Study (2 hours/day)
  • an introduction to Vedic Chanting (1 hour/day)  

The program would require the presence of the participant in Chennai for 30 days (150 hours). The remaining 150 hours will be done online.

Foundation Yoga - YTT

The Foundation Yoga Course comprises the following modules: 

  • Stretch and Relaxation 
  • Strength and Load bearing 
  • Suryanamaskaram (with mantras)  
  • Pranayama
  • Dhyana

It will also cover 

a) the principles of course design, i.e., preparation, counterpose, rest, vinyasa krama (principle of gradual progression)

b) the classical form for each asana 

c) the modifications for each asana to cater to different limitations

d) an understanding of the different areas worked in each asana (theory and practice)

e) the role of the breath and the different ways it is used in asana and pranayama

Yoga Sutra - YTT

 The Yoga Sutra study and chanting comprises:

  • an overview of all the 4 chapters
  • a detailed study of Chapter I (yoga theory) and Chapter II (yoga practice)
  • chanting of Chapter I and II 
  • stories that help illustrate the principles outlined in the YS (always a very effective teaching aid)

Vedic Chanting - YTT

The Vedic Chanting comprises:

  • an overview of the Vedas and their place in Indian tradition
  • the parallels between the benefits derived from Yoga and Vedic Chanting
  • the rationale for the use of Vedic Chanting as a meditative tool
  • an overview of other meditation techniques 
  • chanting of passages from the Vedas together with their meaning. 

Cost - YTT

The cost for the 300-hour program is USD 8400 per person (minimum group of four participants). This would include 

  • 30 days accommodation in a twin sharing room in Chennai
  • five hours of classes a day (150 hours of study)
  • all meals
  • laundry
  • airport pick up and drop 
  • the balance 150 hours will be covered online

Optional: an exposure to aspects of Indian culture – traditional music and dance performances, temple visits, talks on the Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, world heritage treasures of South India, and Ayurveda, to name some important areas of interest to visitors.
